Value

Staff of The Office of Small and Medium Enterprise will be able to search this data when planning marketing and event attendance. Knowing what government agencies are in a given area, how many staff, and what contracts are being awarded provides informed information about business development opportunities.

Government suppliers will be able to search this data in looking for business opportunities and potential business contacts. Knowing what agencies are awarding contracts and the size of those contracts allows suppliers to focus their business development where their products/services are needed and they have capacity to meet demand.

Instructions

  1. You must first select a province from the list of provinces. There are 28,000+ rows of data, which is very slow to load. Selecting a province first reduces the number of rows to load.
  2. Each column has a search field and entering search criteria will filter to show CASE INSENSITIVE results. If search criteria is entered in multiple search fields it is treated as an AND search so ALL FILTERS are applied to the data.
  3. Depending on the speed of your computer, there can be a slight delay between entering search criteria seeing results.

Data Columns

  1. City - The city the government office OR supplier is located in.
  2. Province - The province the government office OR supplier is located in.
  3. Postal Code - The postal code the government office OR supplier is located in. When selecting a province the first letter of the postal code is actually used as there are a number of variations in the spelling of provinces.
  4. Gov. Department - The name of the government department.
  5. Gov. Employee Count - The government departments employee count, arrived at by counting unique first and last names.
  6. Supplier Name - The legal name of the supplier who was awarded contract(s).
  7. Gov. Department(s) - Government departments the supplier has done business with in the last 2 years. Often this is only shown as Procurement Canada or may contain spelling errors, which is why this is a separate from Gov. Department data. The list is limited to 10 to save database space and improve loading time.
  8. Supplier Employee Count - An approximation of the number of employees the supplier has. The sum total at the top of this column uses the low end of the range, when available.
  9. Contract Value(s) - Contract values sorted from greatest to smallest awarded in the last two years.
  10. Sum Contract Value(s) - A sum of all contract values.
  11. # Contracts - A count of the number of unique contract numbers
  12. Contract(s) - Contract numbers and descriptions. Providing contract descriptions should provide users with a sample of the contracts being awarded in their area.
